How Do Colored Contact Lenses Works ?

The popularity of colored contact lenses has grown significantly in recent years. Colored contact lenses are normally used to change or enhance the color of one's eyes. They are often used as a fashion accessory or as part of a costume. When inserted, they cover the iris with a new color. There is a clear hole in the center for your pupil. The contact covers the eye except for the centre so you do not see the color unless it slips over your pupil

Colored contact lenses are available in funky designs, colors enhancement tints, and as opaque. Opaque lenses will completely change the color of the eyes. In the centre of the lens there is the opening for the pupil. There is a more dense color over the area of the iris.

The tint and texture of the color of the contact lenses will vary according to the color and style selected. Color enhanced contact lenses are used to deepen one's eye color or lightly change its tint. Colored contact lenses are available for those who require bifocals, have astigmatism, or are looking to buy disposable contact lenses.

Colored contact lenses are available in corrective prescription and non-prescription colored contact lenses. Color contacts can be worn by almost anyone, with or without ideal sight. They are especially beneficial for people with dark-colored eyes. Depending on what you are looking for, contact lenses can look natural or stand out such as when using it for special effects.

Color enhancement contacts can brighten the eyes while not changing the color. These contacts are useful for people who want to deepen the color of their light colored eyes. Enhancement tint contacts are known as see-through lenses. This type of colored contact lens will permit one's natural eye color to be seen. They are available in a number of different colors.

Opaque tint color contacts are used to change eye color. These contacts are deeper in color than other colored contact lenses. People with dark eyes will normally use opaque tint color contacts because they will effectively cover the dark and deep color. These contacts come in a number of different colors such as amethyst, gray, green, blue, violet, hazel, and more.

One has to treat colored contacts the same way as they would as other contacts. They will have to clean and disinfect the lenses according to the directions given by their eye doctor. As well, do not let other people wear them and handle them with clean hands.

By law, a prescription is required with corrective colored contact lenses. With special effects colored contacts, you do not need a prescription. To maintain good eye health, it is important that you have eye check ups and follow your eye doctor's instructions about eye care and contact lens care.

Colored contact lenses give people the freedom to change the color of their eyes. There are many online contact lens retailers that offer a broad range of colored contact lens to meet individual needs for quality colored lenses.

Most Popular Brands of Contact Lenses Review

Contact lenses are no longer just an alternative to eyeglasses, in recent years contacts have become, arguably and rightfully so, the most adopted way for people to deal with vision problems. Though just as many people have vision problems, there seem to be less and less people walking the streets wearing glasses. Many people can't afford an expensive laser operation, but still want to correct their vision problem in an indiscreet and comfortable manner, for these people one of the many available varieties of contact lenses often provides a perfect answer to their problem.

Glasses can be cumbersome for the wearer; they can be easily broken, scratched, misplaced or lost for good. Once a lens gets scratched the glasses are all but useless, and glasses can be a very expensive accessory to be replacing on a regular basis.

For something that performs virtually the exact same function as eyeglasses, contact lenses couldn't be more different. Once the wearer gets past the initial system shock of not having a heavy and uncomfortable piece of plastic resting across the bridge of their nose, the rest of the road to seeing clearly can be much easier to deal with while using contact lenses.

If you're getting ready to make the switch from glasses to contacts for the first time, here are some of the most popular brands that are available to choose from.

Acuvue

Acuvue is probably the most widely recognized, and arguably the single most popular name in contact lenses available to the public. They produce an above average grade of product that is advertised exhaustively by a large parent company in an effort to stay at the top of the game in contacts. Acuvue produces a wide variety of lenses that are competitively priced and very easy for the consumer to find.

Biomedics

Biomedics is another very popular brand of contact lens; they are probably the most widely recognized producer of one to two week disposable contact lenses. The beauty of this type of lens is that there is no cleaning involved. These lenses can be worn for seven to fourteen days in a row and then be disposed of for a new pair. One to two week disposable lenses may be a bit more expensive than daily wear, but the wearer incurs no extra expense for the extra care products normally associated with daily wear lenses.

Focus

Focus are makers of a wide variety of contact lenses, they have styles of daily wear, disposable and extended wear disposable to chose from and they are backed by a powerhouse parent company with an advertising campaign that almost rivals that of Acuvue.

Fresh Look

Fresh Look is a producer of high quality contact lenses, who specialize in changing the wearer's eye color. Fresh Look makes daily wear and one to two week disposable lenses that safely alter the wearer's appearance with a very natural looking change of eye color. Though changing eye color isn't exactly necessary for any type of vision correction. The capability of making your eye color a fashion accessory has helped this contact lens manufacturer gain a pretty large following.

Different contact lens manufacturers lenses may fit or feel differently, they may differ in price slightly and they may be able to handle certain vision problems either a little more or a little less effectively, but for the most part each of the most popular manufacturers (like the ones listed above) all produce top quality contact lenses. By experimenting a bit with each of the top manufacturers and each of the contact lens styles, a former glasses wearer should have very little trouble in finding a very comfortable and very affordable solution to whatever their vision problem may be.

Cleaning Your Acuvue Oasys Lenses

A daily care routine is an essential part of owning Acuvue Oasys contact lenses. There are a few basic care needs that one should be aware before using these contact lenses. If you are unable to follow a routine, unable to insert and remove the lenses, or have another person insert and remove the lenses, then it would be wise to rethink the need or desire for contact lenses. If you are great at a routine then there are a few basics you will need to follow.

Before you go home for the first time with contact lenses, make sure you insert and remove them while you are still at the Optometrist or eye care specialist's office as this will help clear up any questions. Before handling the lenses make sure your hands are washed and dried thoroughly. A common mistake that can be made is putting the lens in your mouth to lubricate or moisten it, or using tap water to clean or moisten the lens. Unfortunately, this could lead to accidentally swallowing the lens or dropping it into the sink drain. Also, tap water contains impurities that can contaminate the lens or could lead to eye infections, possibly even injuring the eye.

The first time you purchase a pair of lenses, be sure to get a recommended cleaning and disinfection routine as well as instructions about care, handling, and cleaning. The eye care specialist will be able to teach you about proper care procedures and will suggest the best products to use for the type of lenses you have. When you remove your lenses, they must be cleaned and disinfected before you put them back in your eyes.

In order to continue safe and comfortable wear of the lenses, it is important that you first clean, rinse, and disinfect your lenses after each removal. Be sure to do this by using the lens care products and procedures that have been originally recommended by your eye care specialist. Ideally, it is best to form the habit of cleaning of the lenses as soon as they are removed from your eyes. Cleaning and rinsing are needed to remove mucus, secretions, films and protein deposits that may have built up on your lenses during wear.

Always follow the set routine and use the recommended products to avoid any serious eye problems. If you wish to change products for some reason, it is highly recommended to consult with your eye care specialist about the product before doing so. There may be many reasons why you should not or cannot safely use the new product. Also, keep track of expiry dates on lenses and all the lens care products. Do not mix lens care systems with other products because not all products will be compatible with others.

Basic Cleaning Rules

- Always clean the same lens first to avoid mix-ups when the time comes to insert them again.
- Always follow the instructions provided on the cleaning solution label and from the eye care specialist.
- After the cleaning is completed, rinse the lens with the recommended rinsing solution to remove the cleaning solution as well as any mucus and film from the lens surface.
- Once the process is completed, put the lens into the correct chamber of your lens storage case.

Disinfecting

- After the cleaning is completed, disinfect the lenses using the system recommended by your eye care specialist, following the instructions given and /or written on the product label.
- When using hydrogen peroxide lens care systems, the lenses must first be neutralized before wearing.
- Be sure to thoroughly rinse the lenses with a fresh solution before inserting and wearing your lenses. Take caution with lenses that are chemically disinfected, as they could absorb ingredients found in the solution. These chemicals could irritate the eye, so to avoid this, thoroughly rinse the lenses in a fresh and sterile saline solution just before inserting the lens in the eye.

Proper care of your Acuvue Oasys contact lens is a necessary responsibility. Cleaning is an important part of lens care. Improper cleaning can eventually ruin the lenses. To maintain fresh lenses, they must be cleaned, rinsed, and disinfected daily.
